Ruth Foyeke Adeleye, age 78, of Plainfield, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Ruth was born in Ghana on January 12, 1948, to Mary (nee Oyewo) and Jacob Oyekan. She carried the warmth, vibrancy and deep-rooted traditions of her homeland with her throughout her life. She was a woman of immense grace, strength, and unwavering faith.Her resilience and hard work shaped the foundation of our family, and her generosity touched everyone she met. Whether through her comforting words, her vibrant spirit, or her boundless love, she had a unique gift for making people feel seen, valued, and deeply cared for. Though her journey brought her far from the shores of Nigeria to the United States she never lost her deep devotion to her family.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends who had the privilege of knowing her. Her physical presence is deeply missed, but her spirit, wisdom, and guiding light remain with us always.

Ruth is survived by her four children, Victoria, Eugenia, Gladys, and Alexander; seven grandchildren, Gabriel, Elizabeth, Shiloh, Sarah, Isreal, Morin, and Azariah; four nieces, Odunola, Funmilola, Ibukun, and Ifeoluwa; and one nephew, Tosin.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gabriel Gbadebo Adeleye; her parents; Jacob and Mary; and brother, Joseph.

Visitation for Ruth Foyeke Adeleye will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Plainfield Township Cemetery, Plainfield.
