Plainfield D202 Preschool Lottery Opens To Parents Mid-February

Parents can apply to place their kids in two-, three- and five-day preschool in one of four District 202 elementary programs.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The lottery to enroll children in one of Plainfield School District 202's preschool programs begins Feb. 13.

Similar to past years, District 202 will use an online application for the lottery, which begins at 7 a.m. Feb. 13 and runs through 5 p.m. Feb. 24.

Parents have a few program options: Two-, three- and five-day programs will take place at Bonnie McBeth Learning Center and Wallin Oaks Elementary School, while Liberty and Freedom elementary schools will offer a five-day program. All are tuition based.

Children between the ages of 3 and 5 — they must be 3 on or before Sept. 1, 2023 — within District 202 boundaries are eligible to enroll in the 2023-24 preschool program at Bonnie McBeth.

The lottery drawing will be held Feb. 28, and parents will be notified by March 1 whether their child has been accepted or placed on a waiting list. From there, registration for students accepted into the lottery will be held March 6-24. Families that don't register or pay the $100 deposit will lose their spot.

Parents of students on the waiting list will be notified of openings starting June 1.

The lottery application can be found under "Announcements" on the front page of the Bonnie McBeth Learning Center's website and on the district website. Information is also available at Bonnie McBeth, 15730 Howard St.; the district administrative center, 15732 Howard St.; and all District 202 elementary schools.
