White Satin Bridal Is Closed For Good, Citing Damage From HopScotch Fire
"It is with heavy hearts that we share we are unable to reopen White Satin Bridal due to the fire and the resulting damage," owners said.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A chain reaction resulted from a kitchen fire that broke out at HopScotch & Vine in January. Not only did the American restaurant decide not to reopen its doors, but White Satin Bridal, the shop next door, announced it also will not reopen.
"It is with heavy hearts that we share we are unable to reopen White Satin Bridal due to the fire and the resulting damage to our store," owners of the store on Lockport Street wrote Monday evening in a post on Facebook.
In late January, just after HopScotch opened its doors for the day, a fryer caught on fire. Firefighters responded within four minutes and contained the fire before it could spread to neighboring businesses, Patch reported.

During the fire, firefighters helped remove wedding dresses from White Satin Bridal to save them from smoke damage, Patch reported in January. The bridal shop also shared on Facebook at the time that the fire did not reach the store.

"Thank you for 21 years filled with the most joyous moments of saying yes to the dress," the shop wrote in a letter. "We feel so incredibly lucky to have been a part of your dress shopping experience. ... We are so sad it had to end this way. We love our WSB family and will miss you all so much."
In the wake of the fire, White Satin Bridal moved to a temporary location on Main Street to continue assisting existing customers. The shop plans to complete all pickups there through the end of June.
"If you have an existing order, a paid deposit, or a question about your appointment, please reach out to us directly so we can help you personally," the letter read. "If you have an appointment with one of our preferred seamstresses after June 30, she will be in touch to confirm the location of your appointment."
White Satin Bridal's announcement came about two weeks after HopScotch & Vine shared it would not reopen after a four-month hiatus.
