1 Killed When Car Strikes Tree After Route 53 Crash: Romeoville Police
A woman died after two vehicles collided on Route 53 and one vehicle left the road and hit a tree.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — A woman died Friday after a two-vehicle crash on Route 53 near Airport Road, Romeoville police said.
Officers responded to the crash at 2:56 p.m., and an investigation determined that a silver Acura and a silver Chevrolet were traveling south on Route 53 when they were involved in a crash. Police said the initial crash caused the Acura to travel across Route 53 and strike a tree off the roadway.
The driver of the Acura was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital and later released.

The passenger, identified as Donna J. West, died of her injuries at the scene, police said.
The crash closed Route 53 in both directions for several hours.
