Romeoville Police Make DUI Arrest During Memorial Day Campaign

The department also issued citations for seat belt use, child car seat violations, and license violations.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Romeoville Police Department shared it issued nine seat belt citations and made one DUI arrest during its Memorial Day 2026 “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign.

The department said the campaign was aimed at increasing seat belt use and keeping roads safe during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

“Thanks to the efforts of our officers, more drivers and passengers were reminded to buckle up, helping to prevent injuries and save lives,” said Sgt. Sean Wagner. “Every citation and safety check reinforces the message that seat belts work.”

During the campaign, the Romeoville Police Department took the following actions:

  • 9 seat belt citations issued
  • 5 child car seat citations
  • 1 DUI arrest
  • 4 distracted driving citations
  • 5 suspended/revoked license actions
  • 22 uninsured motorist citations
  • 19 speeding citations

  • The “Click It or Ticket” initiative is funded with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, according to a news release.
