Joe Baltz Dies: 'Your Commitment To Troy Township, Troy Fire Protection District Will Never Be Forgotten'

SHOREWOOD, IL — The Troy Fire Protection District shared sad news on its Facebook page on Monday, revealing "it is with profound sadness that the Troy Fire Protection District shares the passing of Joseph D. Baltz, a longtime member of the Troy family and a dedicated public servant whose impact on our community spans nearly five decades."

According to Troy Fire, "Joe’s connection to the Troy Fire Protection District began through his service as a volunteer firefighter, a role he proudly held for 33 years. During that time, he answered the call alongside generations of Troy firefighters, serving his neighbors during emergencies and helping build the foundation of the fire district we know today. Following his years as a firefighter, Joe continued serving the District as a Trustee, bringing with him decades of experience, institutional knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to the residents of Troy Township. His leadership and support helped guide the District through periods of growth and change while ensuring that Troy firefighters and paramedics had the resources necessary to protect the community."

Baltz served Troy Township in several elected roles beginning in 1977 and became Township Supervisor in 1984, a position he held for more than four decades. Throughout his tenure, he helped establish programs, facilities, and services that continue to benefit residents throughout the community.

"The members of the Troy Fire Protection District extend our deepest condolences to Joe’s family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who had the privilege of serving alongside him. Thank you for your lifetime of service, Joe. Your commitment to Troy Township and the Troy Fire Protection District will never be forgotten," Troy Fire noted.
