St. Charles Township Voters To Decide Garbage Collection Referendum
The Nov. 3 ballot question would give the township authority to contract for garbage, recycling and composting services.
ST. CHARLES, IL — Voters in St. Charles Township will decide in November whether to give the township authority to contract for garbage, recycling and other refuse collection for residents living in unincorporated areas.
The binding referendum on the Nov. 3 general election ballot asks whether St. Charles Township should be authorized to exercise powers under Illinois' Township Refuse Collection and Disposal Act. If approved, the township would be permitted to enter into a contract covering the collection, disposal, composting and recycling of garbage and refuse for residents of unincorporated St. Charles Township, according to the Kane County Clerk's Office.
The question applies specifically to residents of the township's unincorporated areas, rather than residents who live within municipalities that provide or arrange their own refuse services.
