D140 Board of Ed Celebrates Students and Staff at July Meeting

D140’s Special Olympics State team was recognized at the July Board of Education meeting for its outstanding performance at the 2026 Special Olympics Illinois Summer State Games held June 12 - 14 at Illinois State University.

Five student-athletes competed in the standing long jump, shot put, tennis ball throw, and the 30-meter motorized wheelchair slalom race. The team brought home one gold medal, two silver medals, one bronze medal, and two fourth-place ribbons.

Congratulations to Jeremiah Alicea, Issac Allan, Gabriella Fortier, Ryan Grella, and Aaron Klinckman-Mackey.

A big thank you goes out to Special Olympics Coordinators Chrisie DeCarlo and Katherine Fricano, as well as everyone who came out to support the team.
