IL Toy Company That Won $10M Suit Files New Lawsuit Challenging Trump Tariffs

VERNON HILLS, IL — Learning Resources, an educational toy company based in Vernon Hills, has filed a new lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's latest round of global tariffs, arguing they are an unlawful attempt to reinstate taxes previously struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in the U.S. Court of International Trade alongside Connecticut flooring company HMTX Industries, targets new 10 percent to 12.5 percent tariffs imposed under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, the Chicago Tribune is reporting. Company officials contend the tariffs are a tax on American businesses rather than a legitimate response to forced labor concerns cited by the administration.

Earlier this year, Learning Resources successfully challenged an earlier round of Trump-era tariffs, winning more than $10 million in refunds.
