Man Drives Recklessly In Western Springs, Speeding Far Over Limit: Cops

In another case, a wallet was stolen from an unlocked car at a local restaurant, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – In recent weeks, Western Springs police have handled cases involving reckless driving, a car burglary, the theft of plants, retail theft and DUI. Here is information from the latest Western Springs police reports:

Reckless driving

  • A 20-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 3 p.m. April 26 on 47th Street near Fair Elms Avenue on a reckless driving charge. Police said the man was driving 75 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Car burglary

  • A wallet was reported stolen from an unlocked car at Starbucks, 6 47th St.

Theft of plants

  • A business in the 800 block of Burlington Avenue reported on Wednesday the theft of $2,500 in plants from behind the building.

  • A 42-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 7 p.m. Tuesday on a retail theft charge. Police said the theft occurred at Walgreens, 4700 Gilbert Ave.

DUI

  • A Chicago woman, with no age given, was arrested May 9 at Hillgrove Avenue and Wolf Road on charges of DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, disobeying a stop sign, improper lane usage and driving an uninsured car.
