A secular, diverse, college prep, alternative learning community focusing on critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity for students elementary through high school (full-time, part-time or hybrid). We emphasize critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills across all levels. We have three levels of mixed-aged small cohorts that allow for differentiation that ensures all students are stretched without being stressed. We are college-prep without college pressure. Students are placed by ability vs. age and we are low-tech, but not no-tech. Our students use real books and writing utensils. Bullying is not tolerated here and we have a longstanding community culture of respect and encouragement among students and adults. Classes are taught in an eclectic combination of styles that includes themed, project-based, Modeling Instruction drawn from various pedagogies. We offer Advanced Placement (many project-based) and dual-enrollment. Let's talk about how to change your child's trajectory.

St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines

he cats we care for at St. Sophia’s come from many different places. The majority of the cats we help are those that are helpless, who have not experienced love or a home, stray, abused, and neglected cats. Primarily we work with high-volume/high-kill animal controls to save cats from needless euthanasia. Our largest partner is Chicago Animal Care and Control. Other ACs we partner with are Aurora, Joliet Township, DuPage, Herrin, Marion, Quincy, Tilton, Union, Jasper, and Whiting. St. Sophia’s also works with local Trap-Neuter-Return organizations. Trap-Neuter-Return (also known as TNR) is a method of humanely trapping unaltered feral cats, neutering them, and releasing them back to the same environment where they were originally found. TNR is promoted by proponents as a humane and more effective alternative for managing and reducing feral cat populations (compared to euthanasia). While most cats trapped are completely feral (wild, without any domestic socialization), some cats—often kittens, or even adults that have been well cared-for outdoors—can, and have, become socialized and adoptable. TNR organizations aren’t equipped to handle the “friendlies” that come in, so we step in to assist those cats looking for homes. Lastly, some of our cats are direct owner surrenders. Sometimes circumstances have it that people are unable to care for their cats due to moving, eviction, financial issues, death, allergies, etc. We accept these cats in when we have space and maintain a waiting list of those who need assistance. WHEATON, IL — On July 19, Cantigny Park will transform into "a moveable feast," complete with can-can and ballet dancers, live music and a makers market for the 2026 Voyage en France event. The family-friendly event features a chance to try out popular French sports, watch plein air painters at work, and make art at creation stations. A replica of the Eiffel Tower will be on hand, giving visitors a fun photo opp. The live performance schedule is as follows: FDM Tent 10:15 a.m.: Salt Creek Ballet and local dancers perform 11:30 a.m.: I Cancan Dance performs 12 p.m.: Salt Creek Ballet and local dancers perform 1:30 p.m.: I Cancan Dance performs This Voyage en France also offers two new experiences. The Language Labs will offer bilingual storytime and programming that immerses attendees in French language and culture. Chicago Fire FC will host an interactive soccer experience. Pre-registration is required. Tickets to Voyage en France are $15 for attendees 16 and older when purchased in advance. Ticket prices increase to $20 on July 19. Sanctuary in Trauma is excited to announce the opening of its first physical office in the Lisle Town Centre and invites the community to celebrate at an Open House on Saturday, July 18, from 1-3 pm at 1111 Burlington Avenue, Lisle, IL, Suite 110. Sanctuary in Trauma is a Christ-centered nonprofit ministry dedicated to walking alongside women who have experienced trauma, loss, and hardship. Through Biblical teaching, practical tools, support groups, and leader training, the ministry equips churches and communities to offer hope and healing rooted in the truth of Scripture.After years of serving women from homes, coffee shops, churches, and borrowed meeting spaces, this new office marks an important milestone in the ministry's continued growth. The space will provide a welcoming environment for meetings, volunteer collaboration, leadership training, and ministry operations as Sanctuary in Trauma expands its reach. "We are incredibly grateful for God's faithfulness in providing this space," said Executive Director Dana Kemp. "This office represents more than four walls—it is a reminder of the many people who have prayed, volunteered, given generously, and come alongside this ministry so that more women can experience hope in Christ. We are excited to expand our reach into Lisle and surrounding communities.” Community members, ministry partners, local leaders, and supporters are invited to stop by during the Open House to tour the office, meet the Sanctuary in Trauma team, learn more about the ministry's mission, and celebrate what God is doing through this next chapter. Light refreshments will be served, and no RSVP is required.
