Golden Mouths, Ethereal Pulpits, Tumultuous Times

The Litfin Divinity School at Wheaton College presents "Golden Mouths, Ethereal Pulpits, Tumultuous Times," a lecture by Kirk Farney, Ph.D. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 5:30 PM.

Join us for the 2026 Annual Mark A. Noll Lecture! This year's lecture features Dr. Kirk Farney, who is VP for Advancement, Vocation, and Alumni Engagement and a member of the History Department faculty at Wheaton. The lecture will explore the radio ministries of Monsignor Fulton J. Sheen of the Catholic Hour and Rev. Walter A. Maier of The Lutheran Hour during the 1930s and 40s, analyzing their theological substance, exploring their remarkable popularity, and demonstrating their impact on American life during anxiety-laden times.
