More Than 60 Tickets Issued During Labor Day Crackdown In DuPage County

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office also made one arrest during its 2026 Labor Day traffic safety campaign.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office issued more than 60 tickets during its recent Labor Day traffic safety campaign.

They also made one arrest for aggravated speeding.

The breakdown of the citations issued is as follows.

  • 23 tickets for distracted driving
  • 10 speeding tickets
  • 6 tickets for seatbelt violations
  • 5 tickets for disobeying a stop sign
  • 5 tickets for driving without insurance
  • 2 tickets for disregarding a traffic light
  • 2 tickets for driving with expired plates
  • 1 ticket for driving without a valid registration
  • 1 ticket for an expired driver's license
  • 1 ticket for failure to yield
  • 1 ticket for failure to signal
  • 1 ticket for improper lane usage
  • 1 ticket for a driver's license classification infraction
  • 1 ticket for driving with registration suspended for lack of insurance
  • 1 ticket for failing to use a turn signal

“Through the Labor Day safety campaign, we helped to make our roads safer and spread the word about the risks of impaired driving – ‘It’s Not a Game,’” remarked DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick.

The Labor Day safety campaign, which began Aug. 14 and ran through Sept. 7, is part of the statewide "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over" initiatives.
