New Mexican Restaurant Seeks Liquor License To Open In Wheaton

The restaurant hopes to open in the storefront that once housed Nothing Bundt Cakes.

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton's liquor commission will hold a public hearing and review a liquor license request from La Plaza Taqueria Thursday.

The Mexican eatery is seeking a Class A liquor license to serve beer, wine and cocktails at 421 Town Sq. The 2,409 square foot building was formerly home to Nothing Bundt Cakes, which relocated in 2024.

La Plaza Taqueria's design plans include seating for up to 55 customers.

According to city documents, "Staff has no outstanding issues or concerns with regards to this application and foresees no problems with recommending approval of the proposed license to the applicant."

If approved by the liquor commission, the item will move to the Wheaton City Council meeting on its March 2 agenda.
