Over 2K Flags, Patriotic Flyovers, Performances: Field Of Honor In Wheaton

WHEATON, IL — More than 2,000 American flags will unfurl at Seven Gables Park in Wheaton this summer for the 2026 Field of Honor display. Each of the display's flags will pay tribute to a military veteran or active service member, fallen military member, first responder or other local hero.

In addition to the striking display of American flags, Field of Honor will feature performances that include flyovers, bagpipe players, singers, drummers, Honor Guard members and more.

An opening ceremony is planned for June 30 at 6:30 p.m. The event will include a bagpipe performance and a rendition of "Amazing Grace" performed by Tunes of Glory.

Special appearances include veteran and D-Day survior William "Bill"Krug, Vietnam War Medal of Honor Recipient Sgt. Allen Lynch and Chicago Blackhawks radio announcer John Wiedeman.

From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., visitors can see classic cars on display from the Hamilton Car Collection.

The 2026 Field of Honor display is free to view and will run from June 29 through July 4 at Seven Gables Park, 1750 S. Naperville Rd., Wheaton.

Residents can make donations to support the Field of Honor or can buy a flag to dedicate to their own personal heroes or lost loved ones. The flags, which start at $30, can be personalized with an "in memoriam" or dedication, with proceeds benefiting Warrenville VFW Post 8081.
