Winners Announced For Sustainable Design Challenge
Local student teams were honored in the competition, which was organized by DuPage County Stormwater Management Committee and SCARCE.
DUPAGE COUNTY — Teams from three local schools were chosen as winners of the DuPage County Stormwater Management Committee's 2026 Sustainable Design Challenge.
The competition, which is organized by SCARCE, challenges teams to make landscaping and building models that implement designs that are eco-friendly and sustainable.
The designs were assessed by local judges who work in science, math, technology and engineering.

The award for Best Overall Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) was given to a team from Waubonsie Valley High School. The team included Aviya Pinto, Varshaa Selvaraj and Symphony Taylor.
Best Stormwater Design went to a team from York Community School with team members Allyson Kent and Siha Kim.

A team from Glenbard East High School was recognized with the Best Energy Design Award. Team members included Lily Daciolas, Yunuen Rangel and Olivia Wojdyla.
The designs were presented during an April 21 event at the DuPage County JTK Administration Building.
