Criminals Open Fraudulent Loans: Winnetka Crime Blotter

THEFT

• Identity - Aug. 3 at 2:47 p.m.
  • A resident noticed that an unknown person opened a Small Business Administration loan for more than $5,000 using their personal information.

• Identity - Aug. 5 at 4:17 p.m.
  • A resident reported that somebody had altered a check they sent in the mail to make it worth more than $5,000.
• Identity - Aug. 7 at 10:35 a.m.
  • A victim reported that an unknown person opened two Nelnet student loans under their name worth more than $5,000.
• Identity - Aug. 9 at 10:53 a.m.
  • A resident reported that scammers had used their VISA Bank of America credit card to make $1,843.85 worth of fraudulent purchases.

ARRESTS

• Traffic - Aug. 4 at 6:55 p.m.
  • A 30-year-old Chicago man was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He was also cited for making an improper right turn.

• Traffic - Aug. 6 at 8:21 p.m.
  • A 22-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for speeding.
• Traffic - Aug. 8 at 9:08 a.m.
  • A 26-year-old man was arrested for speeding 26-34 mph over the posted speed limit.
