WINNETKA, IL — The North Shore Art League's summer juried art show is set to kick off nest weekend at Hubbard Woods park in Winnetka.

Art in the Village will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 13 and 14 in the Hubbard Woods Design District.

The boutique exhibition will feature more than 70 artists' booths from across the country. Their work will include oil paintings, mixed media, photography, sculpture and other art forms. The league is presenting the annual show as it marks more than 100 years of art in the community.

The North Shore Art League said that it has remained dedicated to its mission of “enriching the human spirit through art education and exhibitions.” Founded in 1924, the group says it was started by artists who wanted people of all ages in their community to benefit from the arts. The league says its cultural impact continues throughout the North Shore and beyond.

The second floor of the historic Community House in Winnetka is home to most of the league's programming. Most classes take place in a large studio built in 1932 with a skylight designed to take advantage of north light.

The league said its current classes and workshops include oil painting, pastels, colored pencil, pen and ink, watercolor, mixed media and drawing, along with a new ceramics studio for youth and adult classes.

At this year's Art in the Village, faculty member and portrait artist Lisa DePinto is scheduled to be on site both days to paint quick oil portraits. The silent auction will feature artwork donated by participating artists, according to the announcement. A raffle with prizes donated by local businesses is also planned for the weekend.

The North Shore Art League is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that receives no tax support and depends on donations to maintain yearly operations for its classes, exhibits and events.

More information about classes, workshops, summer art camps, programs and special events is available through the North Shore Art League office at 847-446-2870 or at northshoreartleague.org. The organization also said tax-deductible donations can be made through the league.
