Woodridge Mourns Loss Of Trustee Durkin

WOODRIDGE, IL — The Village of Woodridge is mourning the loss of Trustee Sean Patrick Durkin, who died July 30 at the age of 56.

Durkin served as an alderman in Darien and a village council member in Downers Grove before he was appointed to the Woodridge Village Board in 2025.

He was a member of the Rotary Club of Downers Grove and President of the Seven Bridges Homeowners' Association.

Durkin is survived by his son, Gavin and daughter Avery. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ava, according to his obituary.

The Village of Woodridge shared the following statement about Durkin, "He will always be remembered as someone who lived with great purpose, gave selflessly, and truly cared for others. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him and call him a friend. We are forever grateful for his lifetime of service and goodness."

In a social media post, the Rotary Club of Downers Grove wrote, "Sean was a valued member of our club and rejoined a little over four years ago. Enthusiastic about all of our Done-In-A-Day projects, Sean and his family helped cook meals at Ronald McDonald House, cut scarfs for The Backpack Project, and built dressers for Sharing Connections.Sean’s hands-on dedication and generous spirit of service above self will be deeply missed by our entire club."
