Man Killed In Head-On Crash ID'd: Kendall County Coroner

The man was attempting to pass another car when he collided head-on with a vehicle heading in the opposite direction, officials said.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — A man, 49, died Wednesday after a crash in Little Rock Township that also injured a woman and children, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office said.

Daniel Hoffmann, of Earlville, was driving west on Galena Road around 1:41 p.m. when he attempted to pass another car west of Clark Road and collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle, officials said.

Hoffmann, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kendall County Coroner's Office determined his cause of death to be blunt force injuries due to a crash.

The occupants of the eastbound vehicle, a 38-year-old woman and two children, were hospitalized with significant injuries. Investigators said Wednesday evening that the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Galena Road was closed for about three hours as a result of the collision. The Plano Police Department, Little Rock-Fox Fire Protection District, Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District and Kendall County Coroner's Office assisted the sheriff's office on the scene.
