James E. Stonehouse, age 75, a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care. He was born on April 22, 1951, in Joliet, IL to James Clifford and Margaret (nee Shuckley) Stonehouse.

James graduated from Lewis University with a Bachelor’s Degree and worked as a Certified Public Accountant for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed golfing, tennis, and could often be found exploring with his metal detector.
Survivors include several cousins and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clifford and Margaret Stonehouse; and one sister, Mary Margaret Stonehouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Will County Humane Society, 20729 Southwest Frontage Road, Shorewood, IL 60404, ATTN: Donations.
Visitation for James will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. in Joliet, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
