Maine lobsterman loses tracking appeal

GPS rule remains in place

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to take up a case affecting the nation’s lobster industry, according to WABI-TV.

The rule at issue lets government fishery managers require electronic vessel trackers on federally permitted lobster boats, in the water and at the dock.

The First Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the rule last year.

Opponents called it unconstitutional in their appeal.

The case was brought by fisherman Frank Thompson of Vinalhaven.
