MD Police Chief Killed In Head-On Crash In Talbot County

TALBOT COUNTY, MD — A 62-year-old Maryland man was killed Friday morning when a delivery truck crossed the center line of a Talbot County road and struck his SUV head-on, according to Maryland State Police.

George William Bacorn Jr. of Denton was pronounced dead at the scene. Bacorn was chief of police with the Denton Police Department in Caroline County, according to reports.

According to state police, troopers responded to Route 331, also known as Dover Road, near Dover Neck Road shortly before 11:30 a.m.

Investigators said a Chevrolet Silverado and Bacorn's Chevrolet Tahoe were traveling east on MD 331 when a westbound Ford Transit delivery truck crossed the double-yellow center line for an unknown reason.

The delivery truck first struck the Silverado's side mirror before continuing west and colliding head-on with Bacorn's Tahoe, according to a preliminary investigation.

The delivery truck driver, Antonio Jaquan Handy, 31, of Salisbury, was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to a trauma center. No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation by the Maryland State Police Crash Team. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be presented to the Talbot County State's Attorney's Office to determine whether charges will be filed.

The road was closed for more than three hours during the investigation.
