Two Maryland Hospitals Hit By Cyberattack: What To Know

Luminis Health is responding to a cybersecurity incident that has knocked some systems offline, potentially affecting operations and patient services.

The health system said Tuesday that it took immediate steps to address the incident and launched an investigation with the help of legal counsel and third-party cybersecurity experts.

The health care provider operates two hospitals in Maryland's Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties. They include:

• Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis
• Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center in Lanham

The brand also has two outpatient surgery centers in Annapolis and Pasadena.

A specific timeline for when the affected systems will be back online has not been released.

Luminis Health officials did not specify what caused the incident, which systems were impacted, or whether the incident involved unauthorized access to patient information.

If the investigation determines patient records were accessed, individuals will be notified, the health system said.
