Annapolis Race Brings Road Closures This Weekend: What To Know

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The arrival of the Annapolis 10-Miler will bring a series of rolling closures to the downtown area this weekend.

The 51st Annual Annapolis Ten Mile Run kicks off Sunday from about 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and the race starts and ends at the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Thousands of runners will make their way through Historic Downtown and take over large stretches of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, Governor Ritchie Highway and King George Street, among other roadways. See the race map here.

Parking restrictions will be in place along Randall Street from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., with towing in effect.

A release from the city states that residents of Perry Circle, and Badger and Sellers roads will have metered access to their neighborhoods for the duration of the race.

Access to the downtown area will be available through Route 50 via West Street and Rowe Boulevard (after 7:50 a.m.).

Rolling Road Closures

Police officers will be stationed at Rowe Boulevard intersections with Farragut Road and Herbert Sachs Drive to direct traffic and runners.

Below is a list of road closures taking effect Sunday:

Stadium Area - Rowe Boulevard
(6:45 a.m. – 7:30 a.m.)

• Taylor Avenue between Cedar Park Road and Rowe Boulevard – Closed to traffic until 7:50 a.m.
• Cedar Park Road between Taylor Avenue and Farragut Road – Closed to traffic
• Farragut Road – Closed to traffic (except for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church traffic)
• Rowe Boulevard – Southbound lane from Farragut to Taylor – Closed to traffic

West Annapolis - Taylor Avenue Area
(7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.)

• Taylor Avenue from Rowe to Baltimore boulevards – Closed from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
• Intersection of Rowe Boulevard at Taylor Avenue – Closed to traffic
• Taylor Avenue south of Rowe Boulevard – Detour around the Stadium using Farragut Road and Cedar Park to go toward West Street or re-enter Rowe Boulevard

Historic Area
(7:15 a.m. – 7:50 a.m.)

• Rowe Boulevard between Taylor and College avenues – Inbound (SE bound) lanes closed to traffic between 7:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.
• College Avenue – Closed to traffic between Bladen Street and Church Circle
• Church Circle – North portion of Circle between College Avenue and Main Street closed to traffic while southern portion of Circle remains open to traffic
• Main Street – Closed to traffic until 8:00 a.m.
• Randall Street – Metered traffic between Compromise Street and USNA Gate 1 from 7 a.m until 7:45 a.m.
• King George Street between Randall Street and Baltimore Boulevard – Closed to traffic
• College Avenue at King George Street – Closed to traffic entering King George Street

Naval Academy Bridge Area
(7:30 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.)

• Southbound lane of Route 450 – Metered traffic to/from Liberty Housing
• No vehicle access to Gate 8, except for emergency vehicles

Pendennis Mount - Ferry Farms
(7:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.)

• Northbound lane of Route 648 from St. Margarets to Edgewood roads open to metered traffic only – One direction at a time from 7:30 a.m. to 8:40 a.m., residents should expect delays
• Southbound lane of Route 648 from St. Margarets to Edgewood roads – Closed to traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 8:40 a.m.
• Route 648 from Route 450 to Ferry Farms – Closed to traffic
• Route 648 north from St. Margarets to dead end – Closed from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
