Annapolis Woman Facing Assault Charge After Stabbing Man

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Shelia Laschaefer Hall Britford, a 39-year-old woman from Annapolis, is facing an assault charge after police say she stabbed a man.

The Annapolis Police Department said Tuesday that the incident took place on the 100 block of Bertina A. Nick Way, near the Obery Court and College Creek Apartments.

Officers had responded to calls about a stabbing shortly before 11:30 p.m.

Preliminary findings indicate the stabbing occurred after a verbal argument broke out between Britford and the man. He was later hospitalized for treatment.

Police did not identify the man or detail the extent of his injuries.

In addition to a first-degree assault charge, Britford is also facing related charges in the case. Details on those offenses were not immediately available.

Authorities said she remains held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
