Four-Week Road Closure To Impact Annapolis: What You Need To Know

ANNAPOLIS, MD — A four-week road closure takes effect next week, impacting commuters traveling through the Annapolis area.

Starting Monday and weather permitting, a section of Spa Road will be closed during the week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until at least Oct. 30.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration said in a release that the closure will affect the stretch of road between Hunt Meadow Drive and Harness Creek.

The closure is part of utility work associated with the construction of the Village at Providence Point, a planned development along the west side of Spa Road.

A signed detour will be posted along Hunt Meadow Drive to reconnect with the Spa and Ferry Point roads. Reliable Contracting Inc. of Gambrills, the developer’s contractor, will also be using arrow boards, cones, and flaggers to direct traffic.

The broader construction project includes a shared-use path along southbound Spa Road, improvements at the Forest Drive and Spa Road intersection, and widening and resurfacing of Spa Road.

The work will also include pavement markings, turn lanes, and stormwater and drainage improvements.

Officials with the State Highway Administration say additional construction and traffic changes are anticipated as the project advances.
