Where Will May Day Protests Be In Anne Arundel Co.?

ANNE ARUNDEL CO., MD — Multiple demonstrations will be held across the county at the start of May as part of a nationwide day of action.

In the county, a total of 11 May Day events are being organized through the Indivisible movement, which notes "the national call is for no business as usual."

"This will look different in different places. In some locations, it will mean no work, no school, and no shopping," reads a post. "In Anne Arundel County, we are marking the day by joining with several community groups."

One of those county groups include the Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County, which will host its demonstrations near high schools.

The Chesapeake Indivisible group will be sponsoring sign-waving protests on sidewalks around Annapolis Mall.

May Day protests are rooted in a longstanding push for worker justice and labor organizing, dating back to the 19th century.

The 2026 iteration is demanding a tax on the rich, protections for democracy, and taking a stance against policies undertaken by the Donald Trump administration.

"Together we will flex our collective power in a tremendous day of action — rallying, marching, and taking action to demand a country that puts workers over billionaires, with many refusing business as usual through No Work. No School. No Shopping," reads a post.
