October In Anne Arundel: Fall Fun, Festivals & More

Fall is officially here in Anne Arundel, and there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of it. From festivals and farmers markets to pumpkin patches, live music and other seasonal fun, October brings plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what’s happening close to home.

Here are some events and activities happening in and around Anne Arundel this October.

Anne Arundel County Farmers Market

When: Saturdays, 7 a.m.-noon; Sundays, 9 a.m.-noon
Where: Riva Road and Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis

Stock up on fresh produce and locally made goods at the Anne Arundel County Farmers Market, which continues throughout the fall. The market brings together dozens of local and regional vendors offering produce, bread and baked goods, meat, poultry, dairy products, flowers, coffee and other farm-fresh and artisan products. Fall Family Weekends At Homestead Gardens

When: Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 3-Nov. 1, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: Homestead Gardens, 743 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville

Make some new fall traditions during Fall Family Weekends at Homestead Gardens. The family-focused celebration includes tractor hayrides, pony rides, barnyard animals, hay mazes, pumpkin activities, bounce attractions, live music and plenty of seasonal food and treats. Visitors can also explore the pumpkin patch and fall market or relax in the picnic and playground areas. Tickets are sold online.

Maryland Corn Maze

When: Select dates through Nov. 8; hours vary
Where: Maryland Corn Maze, 389 Gambrills Road, Gambrills

Get lost in some classic fall fun at the Maryland Corn Maze, where visitors can tackle the corn maze and explore more than 30 FarmYard activities. Pumpkins and food are also available at the farm, and select Saturdays in October feature Flashlight Nights for visitors who want to navigate the maze after dark. Check the calendar and purchase admission for your preferred date before visiting.

AACSPCA's Trick Or Treat Trail

When: Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24-25, noon-4 p.m.
Where: SPCA of Anne Arundel County, 1815 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis

Bring the kids — and even the dog — for some not-too-scary Halloween fun during the AACSPCA's Trick or Treat Trail. The SPCA will transform its wooded trail into a family- and dog-friendly Halloween experience featuring candy, spooky paw-print art, a doggy pumpkin pie eating activity, a costume parade and other festivities. Costumes are encouraged for people and pets, and proceeds support the shelter's animals.

Trolleyween At The National Capital Trolley Museum

When: Oct. 24, 25 and 31; hours vary by date
Where: National Capital Trolley Museum, 1313 Bonifant Road, Colesville

If you’re up for a drive, head to the National Capital Trolley Museum's Trolleyween in Colesville. Families can explore Halloween-decorated streetcars, complete a themed scavenger hunt and enjoy unlimited rides aboard the museum's historic streetcars. Kids are encouraged to arrive in costume for a special treat, and Halloween ornament decorating is available for an additional charge while supplies last.
