New Traffic Pattern On I-95 Affects Harford Co. Drivers

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A new traffic pattern takes effect Friday on southbound Interstate 95 south of the MD 24 interchange.

Since February 2026, traffic has operated in a split pattern with a barrier wall separating the left lane from the right lanes.

The new pattern will remove that configuration and shift southbound I-95 lanes to the right of the work zone. Barrier walls will separate traffic from crews in the work area.

To prepare for the new traffic pattern, the left lane on southbound I-95 will be closed overnight Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday.

The work zone speed limit will remain 55 mph and automated speed enforcement will remain in effect for the safety of workers and drivers.

The work is part of the MDTA’s I-95 Express Toll Lanes Northbound Extension Program between MD 43 and north of MD 24 that will help reduce delays and improve travel along northbound I-95 between Baltimore and Harford counties.
