Farmer Harvests $150K Win Playing Powerball
A Prince George's farmer and retired firefighter recently won $150K playing Powerball, using the same numbers year after year.
HUGHESVILLE, MD — A Prince George's County farmer harvested a $150,000 Powerball prize recently.
The man regularly plays lottery games and has been using the same number combination that represents significant events in his career as a firefighter years ago. He bought the winning ticket at the Jameson-Harrison American Legion Post 238 at 6265 Brandywine Road in Hughesville, where he is a member and occasionally helps out. He also added the double play and power play options for $1 each, Maryland Lottery officials said.
When the winner checked his ticket, he had matched four white balls and the Powerball, which by itself is worth $50,000, but that extra $1 for Power Play tripled the win to $150,000. His wife thought something had happened to him because he yelled in excitement when he discovered he'd won, lottery officials shared.

Although he's retired from firefighting, the farmer still works every day, running a farm in Prince George’s County. He plans to use his winnings to remodel the kitchen in his house and put the rest in savings, he told lottery officials.
