Forgotten $100K Winning Lotto Ticket Travels Overseas

A Suitland man forgot about a lotto ticket he bought before traveling overseas to visit family. Two months later, he found the $100K winner.

SUITLAND, MD — A Prince George's hotel employee who buys lottery tickets loyally twice a week snatched up a $20 Holiday Raffle ticket. He tucked the ticket in his wallet and forgot about it.

Two months later, the Suitland resident discovered the ticket in his wallet and headed straight to Maryland Lottery headquarters. It was a $100,000 winner.

“I was playing my numbers after I returned when I saw a raffle sign in a store. That’s when I remembered,” he said.

The winning lottery ticket actually flew overseas with the Suitland man while he traveled to visit family. He's grateful he didn't accidentally lose the ticket while traveling and staying overseas.

“I was opening and closing my wallet all the time when I was away. There were so many times the ticket could have fallen out or blown away. I forgot it was in there," he told lottery officials.
