Laurel Man Spends $100K Lotto Win Buying Parents A House

A Laurel construction worker said he plans to spend his $100K lottery win from a scratch-off ticket on a home for his parents.

LAUREL, MD — A construction worker who won $100,000 playing the Red 5's Doubler scratch-off plans to buy his parents a home.

The man scratched off the No. 52, which revealed the top price of $100,000 in a single square.

“I was in shock. I went home and told my parents,” the Prince George’s County resident told Maryland Lottery officials.

The construction worker said he plans to put whatever's left after buying the house in his savings account.

The winning ticket was sold at the 24/7 Convenience Store at 7707 Old Sandy Spring Road in Laurel, which receives a bonus of $1,000 for selling a top tier winning scratch-off.

Red 5’s Doubler went on sale on Dec. 5 and another seven $100,000 top prizes remain unclaimed.
