Prince George's Schools Alter Monday Schedule Due To Incoming Storms

Forecasters are predicting damaging thunderstorms, hail, potential tornadoes, prompting school officials to alter Monday's schedule.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — School will be dismissing two hours early Monday due to forecasted weather.

All field trips, after school activities and events are cancelled, including athletic games and practices.

There won't be any after school vendor-managed care programs and no afternoon early childhood programs.

There won't be any morning half-day preschool. ECC students will attend as usual, remain at school and ride the afternoon bus home, according to the early dismissal schedule. Lunch will be provided.

Afternoon and evening use of school facilities by community groups also has been canceled.

Forecasters are warning that the area will experience significant thunderstorms, hail, potential tornadoes and wind gusts of about 75 mph across the region.

"Meteorologists are sounding the alarm for a widespread multiday severe risk stretching across the central and eastern United States from Sunday afternoon into Monday," Accuweather said. "Over a dozen states will be at risk for severe thunderstorms."
