School leaders have announced a schedule change for Wednesday.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Schools and offices will reopen Wednesday with a two-hour late start.

There will not be any half-day Early Childhood Center, half-day Special Education programs or half-day pre-kindergarten, school officials said.

Emergency personnel must report to work at their regularly scheduled time.

All field trips will be cancelled.

Any other school program requiring transportation prior to noon will not have transportation, including Howard B. Owens Science Center, JA Finance Park and William S. Schmidt Center (Camp Schmidt).

Food services will offer breakfast.

Schools were closed for eight days as of Tuesday due to weather and road conditions. The district stated this week that not every sidewalk in the 500-square-mile area has been cleared, even with help from county crews.

Officials said Monday they were in the process of finalizing a formal virtual learning plan that meets all state requirements and takes into account technology access for students. State law requires such a plan to be presented publicly, leaders said, so it will be proposed at an emergency board of education meeting Wednesday.
