BCPS Charter Dodges Revocation Threat: Report

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — The Puzzle Pieces Learning Academy Public Charter School in Catonsville is holding onto its licensing for now, according to a report.

The academy came under fire from the Baltimore County school board after The Baltimore Sun reported on the checkered legal past of its executive director, Chizarra Dashiell.

Court records reviewed by The Banner show that Dashiell filed for bankruptcy three times between 2004 and 2013, pleaded guilty to driving or attempting to drive while under the influence in 2015, and was involved in several disputes with management companies, among other cases.

The push to revoke the charter was initiated by school board member Pete Fitzpatrick.
