Footage Released In Deadly Police Encounter
Body camera footage in the fatal police encounter involving Samuel Brown Jr. has been made public by the Maryland Attorney General's Office.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — The Maryland Attorney General's Office released body camera footage late Wednesday of the police encounter that led to the death of a 57-year-old man.
The body camera footage is tied to the fatal Feb. 16 encounter involving Samuel "Big Sam" Brown Jr. and Baltimore County Police Officer Derek Hadel. The interaction took place at the intersection of Security Boulevard and Whitehead Court in Woodlawn, where Hadel responded to a wellness check.
Video of the encounter shows Brown speaking to Hadel from the driver seat of his car, however, no audio of this exchange is included.

The officer is heard instructing Hadel to return to his car three times, before he shoves and punches Brown to the ground, yelling, "get in the f***ing car, sir."
The remainder of the video shows Brown unconscious on the ground, with a pool of blood spreading around his head.
Although Brown was hospitalized, he died Feb. 27.
Bill Murphy, the Brown family's attorney, previously told WBAL that Brown suffered injuries that "caused him to become permanently brain dead."
The release comes after Brown's family and friends demanded last week that the footage be made public.
