Columbia Charged For Killing Gosling In Northern Virginia: Police

Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 11, in Fairfax City.

FAIRFAX, VA — A Maryland man has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly chasing and killing a gosling in Fairfax last month, according to the City of Fairfax Police Department.

Police said the incident occurred near 11201 Fairfax Blvd. around 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11.

An investigation by the department's Animal Control Unit determined that the suspect got out of his vehicle and chased a family of geese before intentionally killing one of the goslings, police said. The suspect then fled the area.

Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as Ashton Stennett, 32, of Columbia, Maryland.

On Tuesday, July 7, Stennett was issued a summons charging him with one count of animal cruelty. A court date is pending.
