The South Carroll Lioness Lions Club is hosting a free household shred event and e-waste recycling event on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the Farmers and Merchants Bank, 1321 Liberty Road, Eldersburg, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Limited to one car/truck per household. Acceptable items include computers, laptops, cell phones, printers, scanners, stereos, VCRs, keyboards, and cables. Televisions, monitors, wooden speakers, and small household appliances will not be accepted! Cash donations are always appreciated.

Bring your family and friends to the Purcellville Music and Arts Festival on Saturday, April 25 from noon to 7 p.m. rain or shine. This free, family-friendly event will be held at Fireman’s Field Park and inside the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink at 250 South Nursery Avenue.

Enjoy a full day of live music and performances across multiple stages, along with an art exhibit, games, chalk art, and a variety of interactive activities. Browse offerings from local vendors featuring handcrafted goods, food, beverages, and more. There will be fun for all ages, including face painting, glitter tattoos, sidewalk chalk art, and t-shirt or tote bag decorating. Local non-profits will also be on-site sharing information and resources. Special activities will highlight and celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s independence. 
Inside the Bush Tabernacle Skating Rink—transformed into the Art Hall—you’ll find more than 30 works of art, live performances, art demonstrations, and hands-on activities including quilt square decorating and an Instrument Petting Zoo. Be sure to pick up a festival scavenger hunt booklet and complete it for a chance to win a prize!

Join us at the Piney Run Nature Center for a fun and rewarding basket weaving class led by the talented master weaver, Joan Betzold, of Partnership Crafts by Joan Betzold. In this class, Joan will guide participants who will create their own two-handled gathering basket. This basket is perfect for the garden and many other jobs. It will have 2 handles but with copper rivets for strength and Joan said she will probably throw in crow's feet to make it cooler than the photo included here!! All materials and the park entrance fee are included in the registration price but participants will need to bring some supplies. Please register by Wednesday, May 13th so Joan brings enough supplies.
