2 Firefighters Injured In Ellicott City Townhouse Blaze
Two firefighters were taken to the hospital Monday morning while fighting an aggressive townhouse fire, officials reported.
ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Two firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital Monday while battling townhouse fire.
The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services reported receiving numerous 911 calls around 6:40 a.m. from people seeing smoke in the area of the Turf Valley Resort. Firefighters found flames shooting through the roof of a nearby townhouse located in the 2600 block of Legends Way.
Due to the aggressiveness of the fire, a second alarm was sounded, the fire department noted. Crews switched to a defensive attack on the blaze, since the townhouse had become instable, and drenched the exterior with water.

It took around 30 minutes for firefighters to bring the fire under control. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported, the fire department stated.
The Maryland Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
