Teacher Sues Howard Co. Board Of Education: Report

A middle school educator has sued the Howard County Board of Education after she said she was assaulted by a parent then suffered a stroke.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A math specialist at Bonnie Branch Middle School has sued the Howard County Board of Education for $750,000, claiming race discrimination and due process violations.

Court documents show that the educator, Marchona Sanders, a Black woman, was "pushed, yelled at and blocked from leaving a school conference room by a student’s father, a white man."

The complaint states that Sanders had to crawl between the man and a recycling bin in order to leave the room on Nov. 6, 2023. Other staff members witnessed the incident but didn’t intervene, according to the complaint.
