Wizarding Weekend On Magical Main Kicks Off Saturday

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Grab your wand and head on over to Old Ellicott City for the 7th Annual Wizarding Weekend on Magical Main.

The event starts at 11 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and participate in the costume contest. Guests will enjoy magical activities and quests for all wizards, witches and muggles, as well as live musical performances and street entertainers scattered throughout town.

"The annual Wizarding Weekend is organized by several Main Street businesses in partnership with the National Federation of the Blind," Tiana Spencer with Old Ellicott City told Patch.

A wizarding train garden will be set up at the B&O Railroad Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. A costume contest will take place Saturday at 4 p.m. at Little Market Cafe.

Numerous Old Ellicott City businesses will be offering specials and deals during the event. The Clayground Studio and Gallery will host a wand-making class at 1 p.m. Saturday and wizarding ornament painting Sunday at 1 p.m.

In keeping with the wizarding theme, CMC Exotic Reptiles will have a ball python, hognose python and Barcode the Honduran milk snake for guests to see at Doc Taylor's Toy Emporium. Earth Tribe will have wizarding trivia games and Forget Me Not Factory will feature a Harry Potter Village Garden and Professor Bubble Dork with his magic bubbles will make a guest appearance.

Lola Art House will offer tarot card painting and spooky kinusaiga. Guests can ask the Wizarding Sorting Hat at Sweet Elizabeth Jane which house they belong to and win a prize.

In keeping with the Harry Potter vibe, behind the Leaky Cauldron, wizards, witches and muggles will find Diagon Alley. They can shop Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions, Flourish and Blotts and Ollivanders, as well as Gringotts wizarding bank and neighboring Knockturn Alley.
