1 Killed, 5 Injured In 2-Car Crash Near Damascus: Police

A man was killed and five others, including a child, were hospitalized after a Saturday morning crash near Damascus.

DAMASCUS, MD — One person was killed and five others, including a child, were injured in a two-car crash near Damascus on Saturday, according to Montgomery County police.

Officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to the 24000 block of Ridge Road shortly after 7:20 a.m. on Saturday for a collision involving a silver Ford Transit van and a black Chrysler Pacifica minivan.

A man who was a passenger in the Chrysler suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name was not released pending notification of family.

The driver of the Ford and four people in the Chrysler — three adults and one child — were taken to area hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash. Police did not say what caused the collision.
