Both police and crews with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service were called around 2:45 p.m. to the 10100 block of Maple Leaf Drive on Tuesday to reports of a shooting.

First responders found Lee inside the townhome with the adult who called in the shooting. Authorities have not specified the adult's relation to Lee.

Shiera Goff, an MCPD spokesperson, previously said it was too early to determine whether charges would be filed.

The Montgomery Village community has spoken out about the incident, describing Lee as a vibrant child who could always be seen playing with the neighborhood kids.

"Anytime I would be out front, he'd be playing with the other kids, riding bikes, throwing football, baseball back and forth," Keith Bower, a neighbor who lives nearby, told WUSA9.

Another neighbor, Ameer Ilme, said Lee would often play with her cat. "Pretty sad to hear," she said of the incident.

The investigation into the accidental shooting is ongoing.
