Oak Crest Priority List Members Plan with Confidence

Before moving, Nancy and Paul Mignini attended dozens of fun and informative Priority List events, giving them a chance to learn more

"No worries" is a motto that Paul and Nancy Mignini fully embraced when they moved to Oak Crest, an Erickson Senior Living community in Parkville, Md., last year.

"We just love it here," says Paul. "We lived in our house for 42 years and never really thought too much about moving. But after visiting here, we realized what we were missing. The only decision we have to

make now is what we are going to eat for dinner!"

Before making the move, Paul and Nancy got a taste of Oak Crest's worry-free lifestyle by joining the Priority List. They participated in exclusive social and informational events that allowed them to connect with future neighbors, learn more about the maintenance-free homes, and tour amenities.

"We took advantage of almost every event they had," recalls Nancy.

"Joining the Priority List is the best way to see if Oak Crest is the right community for you," says Senior Sales Associate Meaghan Smith.

Insightful events

With a one-time, fully refundable $1,000 deposit, joining Oak Crest's Priority List is a risk-free way for prospective residents to see everything Oak Crest has to offer while exploring their senior living options.

Invitations to exclusive social and informational events is just one perk that members receive.

"Our regular Priority List events cover a range of topics," explains Smith. "We host financial seminars, health and wellness events, home and activity expos, and resident panel discussions."

Smith notes that the home and activity expos are especially popular. "They give members the chance to tour furnished residences and meet the residents who lead Oak Crest's clubs and activities. Attendees gain honest insights and have the opportunity to ask questions, discovering what life is like in the community," she explains.

"Each event was a different theme. Every time we visited, the staff remembered us and would say, 'Welcome back,'" recalls Nancy.

"We were also introduced to residents who became friends after we moved. Now, we have dinner together every week and go to bingo on Thursday nights."

A smooth move

Since Priority List members can save their spot in line for a future available residence, Smith encourages people to join as early as possible--even if they are just starting to explore their options.

"The demand for vibrant, worry-free retirement living is much higher these days! Wait times can vary, especially for popular floor plans," explains Smith. "By joining the Priority List early, you'll have more options available to you when you're ready to move."

She adds, "Plus, you'll receive personalized support from our sales team as well as planning and moving professionals."

Smith is referring to the community's preferred real estate agents, downsizing experts, and moving companies, all of which have been vetted for experience and quality customer service. Only Priority List members have access to these resources.

Paul and Nancy found this benefit to be very helpful.

"They provided us with a binder full of resources that covered every aspect of the move, which was very impressive," says Paul. "And there was never any pressure from the sales team."

Living the life

Yet another benefit of the Priority List is the opportunity to enjoy an immersive, overnight experience through the Live the Life program.

During their overnight stay in a furnished guest suite, members can dine with current residents at on-campus restaurants, attend group meetings or club activities, take classes, and use the pool and fitness center.

"When you visit different communities, you immediately get a sense of what a place is like," says Paul. "When we visited Oak Crest, we felt welcomed here. We kept comparing every other community to it. It was a no-brainer. We know we made the right decision."

He continues, "When we added up all of the things we liked about Oak Crest, quite frankly, we couldn't find any minuses."

'Free of worries'

Paul and Nancy recently celebrated their one-year anniversary at Oak Crest. "We are living a life free of worries and enjoying each day as it comes," says Nancy. "I can't express how happy we are here."

Nancy, an avid pianist, loves playing the baby grand pianos located in the clubhouses around campus. She also volunteers on the dining committee.

Paul swims in the pool three days a week and has joined a veterans' club.

"I had a neighbor from our last neighborhood reach out to me and ask about how we liked living here," says Nancy. "I told him, 'I have three words: We love it!' They came to visit and ended up joining the Priority List."
