Dr. Keller presented NMTC Innovator Award

NORTH EAST, MD: Cecil College’s Dr. Thomas Keller III is the recipient of the 2026 Innovator Award at the 2026 Visionary Awards, hosted by the Northeast Maryland Technology Council (NMTC) on Thursday, Feb. 26, at Waters Edge Event Center in Belcamp, Md.

Dr. Keller’s career reflects an impressive blend of scientific research and transformative education. With a B.A. in Biology and an M.S. in Secondary Education from McDaniel College, as well as both an M.S. in Biotechnology and an Ed.D. in Mind, Brain, and Teaching from Johns Hopkins University, he has dedicated his life to advancing science learning at every level.

Before stepping into education full-time, Dr. Keller conducted molecular biology and cancer research in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Today, he serves as Professor in the Science and Technology Department at Cecil College and as Digital Accessibility Specialist, promoting inclusive pedagogy, STEM engagement, and evidence-based Science of Learning strategies.

The Innovators Award is presented to individuals for their exceptional personal efforts that measurably benefit the development of the STEM-educated workforce and advance our innovation and technology base. These individuals show potential for a broad positive impact in the community to revolutionize an industry, way of life, or organization.

Dr. Keller’s commitment to inclusive science education, professional development, and student mentorship exemplifies this mission.

Through initiatives led by NMTC, leaders like Dr. Keller help connect industry, education, and emerging technologies, accelerating economic growth and strengthening our regional talent pipeline.
