Police Identify Officer Injured In Pikesville Shooting

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — The officer injured in a Sunday shooting in Pikesville remains in critical but stable condition, police said Monday.

The Baltimore County Police Department identified the official as Officer P. Catalfamo, who has been with the agency for nearly two years.

The weekend shooting saw a total of three people injured: Catalfamo, a bystander and the shooter identified in the incident.

The latest update in the case notes that the bystander continues to recover from a non-life-threatening injury and that the shooter remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Officials said the name of the shooter will be released once criminal charges are filed. A timeline for the filing was not provided.

Early findings indicated shots were fired during the exchange by two other Baltimore County officers who responded to the scene.

Officers were initially called to the 900 block of Milford Mill Road on Sunday before 9 a.m. after receiving reports of a suspicious man and indecent exposure along a trail area.

The man, who was traced by police to the area of Milfood Mill and Scotts Level roads, was armed and opened fire at authorities as they began to approach him.

It's unclear whether the bystander was shot by gunfire from the shooter or by officers.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
