Goodwill Cements Opening Date For New Store

The Goodwill nonprofit will be opening to the public on May 2 at its new location in the Montrose Shopping Center.

ROCKVILLE, MD — The Goodwill nonprofit has revealed that it will officially be opening its new location at the Montrose Shopping Center next month.

Starting May 9, residents will be able to make a stop at the Rockville site at 5520 Randolph Road. The grand opening event will kick off at 9 a.m.

The Goodwill branch will be accepting donations ahead of the grand opening. Donation hours run daily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The shop is taking over the space once operated by the Planet Aid thrift store, which previously stated it was closing the location due to a planned relocation.

Planet Aid closed the location in September. A new site has not yet been announced.

The latest comes as the shopping center announced the additions of multiple new stores, including: Flavor Hive, American Cedar & Millwork, Corolla Beauty and Neural Movement.

Goodwill's footprint in the region is also expanding into upper Montgomery County, where it's aiming for a new opening in Germantown.

The store operates eight locations in Maryland, five of which are in the county.
