Driver Hospitalized After Crashing Into Ambulance

A woman was hospitalized over the weekend after crashing into an ambulance that was leaving the scene of an earlier collision, police said.

MONTGOMERY CO., MD — A woman was hospitalized on Saturday after crashing into an ambulance in the Glenmont area.

The Montgomery County Police Department said the two-vehicle collision took place around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Windham Lane.

The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

"The ambulance involved in the collision was not transporting anyone at the time," police said.

Pete Piringer, of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said the collision happened when the ambulance was "clearing the scene of earlier collision."

The spokesman also detailed that three MCFRS staffers were evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries.
