17 People Facing Charges After Shooting Near Towson University: Police

TOWSON, MD — More than a dozen individuals, including a 15-year-old boy, are facing weapons charges in connection with the weekend shooting that occurred near Towson University.

A total of 17 people were flagged by Baltimore County Police after officers carried out search warrants at the Cardiff Hall Apartments on the 8000 block of York Road.

The department said in a Tuesday release that the individuals, including two boys aged 15 and 17, were charged with "multiple weapons charges, including being a minor in possession of a firearm."

Court records show that some charges range from possession of a stolen firearm or rapid-fire activator to possession of a firearm by a felon.

Of the 17 people charged, four individuals were 18, one was 19, two were 20, four were 21, one was 22, another 23 and 29. The oldest person was 31.

They were identified as:

• 18-year-old male Abul Sanni
• 18-year-old male Olajuwon Olakanye
• 18-year-old male Andre Warren
• 19-year-old male Joseph Savage
• 20-year-old male Musa Olabode
• 20-year-old male Mohamed Conteh
• 21-year-old male Joseph Duwana
• 21-year-old male Taslim Akiremi
• 21-year-old male Kevin Kotchi
• 21-year-old male Alhasan Barrie
• 22-year-old male Keyon O’Neal
• 23-year-old male Kenneth Nambou
• 29-year-old male James Weller
• 31-year-old male Emmanuel Manning

Records show most of the individuals remain held without bond, with a preliminary court hearing listed for Oct. 23.

The two minors were not identified, although the police department said they were waived to adult status.

Authorities said that a search for suspects in the Sunday shooting that left one person injured remains ongoing.

Baltimore County Police previously said that the shooting was reported around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, and that officers had found an 18-year-old man near Osler and Campus View drives who was hospitalized for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The individual was not identified.

The weekend shooting was not tied to Towson University and the injured person was not a student, officials said at the time. A campuswide shelter-in-place was lifted around 10 p.m.
